A conveyor belt.
Conveyor Belts[1] are structures shown in the E3 trailer,[2] used to transport items (and Lizard Doggos)[3] between structures. Belts consist of a single track down which items and players[4] can be transported. They can curve round bends and can be slanted up and down to allow for vertical item transport.[5] Many structures have in and out ports onto which belts can be attached.[6]
Belt Speed
Belts can operate at various speeds.[7]. When items join a belt at a rate higher than the belt's speed, items can be compressed together[8]. Belts can go *very* fast.[9]
Speculation
There is no difference in appearance between belts of different speeds[7], so it is assumed there is only one type of belt with various speed options (possible achieved via overclocking).
