Intro[]

Hi Pioneers!

Hello everybody! I know a lot of you were waiting for this so let’s get started.

Today we’re releasing the 4.25 Unreal Engine upgrade for Satisfactory to Experimental. With this come a lot of cool new optimisations and lots of other stuff under the hood, but it might introduce a lot of unexpected bugs. So, we’re launching this on Experimental first so we can fix these issues before we release this to everyone in our Early Access version.

What can you expect from the engine upgrade? We have made a lot of optimisation changes both to the game in general and multiplayer specifically: Players and enemies should feel less choppy and more responsive as a result from all the network, general bandwidth, and engine optimisations.

The way the eye adaption algorithm worked has also changed, so the game might be a little bit darker or brighter in some places. We have a temporary fix for this which should cover most situations and have also added a Gamma option slider to further adjust brightness if necessary.

If you want to learn more about the Engine Upgrade, you can watch this video made by Jace explaining some more stuff: https://youtu.be/0kmDHBWf640

Before you dive right into the update please remember to BACKUP YOUR SAVES!

While we always aim to make sure your saves are compatible with any future updates, we cannot ensure the same for backwards compatibility with older versions, so please remember that if you play on Experimental, save and then decide to return to the Early Access version some issues may happen.

There are quite a few bugs we already know of and are already working on fixing as soon as possible, however please let us know if you are experiencing any issues or have any feedback over at our QA site https://questions.satisfactorygame.com/. We read your posts over there daily and your reports will help us fix things as soon as we can :)

Engine upgrade[]

  • Updated to Unreal Engine version 4.25

Optimisation[]

  • The maximum bandwidth of the Network Quality Setting values has been increased
  • General Bandwidth reduction
    • This includes optimisations to the general bandwidth consumption of Minimap/HUD location data transfer, Replication Graph optimizations for Conveyor Belts/Lifts, Building Inventory replication and many other minor replication changes.

Quality of Life[]

  • Added a Gamma slider in the Options Menu
  • [EXPERIMENTAL] DirectX12 can now be forced in the options menu.
    • Please note that this can be very unstable and cause crashes and we do not currently have any plans to actively support it, we are including it for testing purposes.
